Omaha Professional Tree Spraying and
Injection Services to Treat your Trees

Systemic injection is used to treat common and not so common ailments. Widely known, Emerald Ash Borer and Pine Wilt are two of the many diseases that we can treat with a preventative. We offer a wide range of fungicide, insecticides and Micro-nutrient fertilizer programs for recovery or continued health of plant and tree life on your property.

Our methods are fast-acting and custom tailored to your needs. For residents with children and/or pets, we offer minimum exposure application for certain treatments. We can accomplish this by way of either deep-root-soil-injection or by systemic injection directly into the vascular system of your tree. Every situation is different but we offer free consultations, diagnosis and cost estimates. This way, you can have all of the information you need to make an informed decision. Lateral growth regulators can keep a tree of manageable width and height while allowing the tree to direct its effort and energy towards centralized growth.

This growth makes trees appear much more robust, thick and healthy while minimizing “stretching & reaching.”  Preventing this allows for less frequent and less expensive maintenance (trimming & pruning).  Trees that spend more energy growing “full” instead of growing up and out, are also more structurally sound and are correlated with reduced risk in times of old age or with violent wind/storms.

Emerald Ash Borer

Emerald Ash Borer has been confirmed in Nebraska as of June 6, 2016.

“The decision to not treat an Ash Tree… is a decision to let that tree die.” -Entomologist Cliff Sadof, Purdue University

Save Your Ash – We provide FREE ESTIMATES to treat Ash trees and kill Emerald Ash Borer (EAB)

Emerald Ash Borer (Agrilus planipennis) affects and kills all types of Ash regardless of their health, condition, size or age.

The arrival of the beetle can often take place 3-4 years before their damage is noticeable.  By this time, it is much more difficult and sometimes impossible to save the tree. This is because the most harmful effects caused by the Emerald Ash Borer are done while it is in its larval stage.  The larvae of the beetle bore long, wavy tunnels underneath the bark of the tree.  They feed and bore strictly in the thin, moist layer directly under the bark.  This layer is known as the cambium and it is not only vital to the tree’s survival, but it is also very prone to damage. The cambium is so important to the tree that the main function of bark on any species of tree is to protect this sensitive layer.

All North American species of ash are susceptible including Green, White, Black, Blue Ash and their cultivars such as:

  • Marshall’s Seedless
  • Patmore
  • Bergeson
  • Agencies
  • Summit
  • Autumn Purple
  • Autumn Applause
  • Fall Gold
  • True Blue

The treatment we use is the “trunk injection method“, which is highly effective and will provide two-year coverage.

Our treatment methods are based upon longitudinal studies and the resulting data gathered through the collaboration of organizations including:

University of Nebraska-Lincoln, United States Department of Agriculture, Purdue University, Michigan State University, Indiana University, Ohio University, United States Department of Agriculture -U.S. Forest Service, Neighbors Against Bad Bugs & countless others.

The alternative to treatment is removal, which can be significantly more expensive. This is without even taking into account the indirect cost of losing quantifiably valuable benefits that the healthy Ash provides.

Chlorosis

Chlorosis in trees is a condition caused by lack of chlorophyl production.  Chlorosis causes yellowing of normally green leaves as well as thinning/defoliation.

It is often easy to detect especially when healthy green trees are in close proximity to the chlorotic trees with yellowing leaves.

The lack of chlorophyl is what is responsible for the initial symptom of yellowing.  These yellowing symptoms go far beyond superficial appearance.

Without proper chlorophyl, the tree’s leaves are unable to harness the sun’s energy to manufacture its food (sugar.)

This causes further stress to the tree and eventually death to large limbs & finally death to the tree.

With proper arborist diagnosis and proper treatment you can, with a high degree of success, prevent the death and inevitable costly removal of chlorotic tree.

In suburban areas such as Omaha, this condition is most common in species such as Pin OakRiver Birch & certain Maple Trees.

In the spring of 2016, possibly due to heavy rains, we have noticed higher-than-normal occurrence of this condition.

Chlorosis can be caused by a number of different factors.

Upon investigation of local cases, we have found the two primary causes to be due to either a lack of iron (most common) or soil pH too high.

We offer recurring Plant Healthcare Plans to ensure that
your trees continue to:

  • Receive treatment at the most effective time(s) of year
  • Add value to your property
  • Reduce home energy use/cost
  • Prevent rainwater runoff/pollution
  • Reduce atmospheric carbon dioxide levels & increase oxygen production

Treatment of Chlorosis has a very high success rate, but failure to take action before the hot, stressful days of summer often results in partial to total death of affected tree.

I couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

Great Plains tree care truly impresses every time! They came out and removed a large spruce tree and removed a large amount of deadwood from my ash tree. They cleaned up as if they weren’t even here! They have now done all the trees on my property and they all look amazing!! I would highly recommend to anyone looking for quality work at a very reasonable price.
